Subject: A triumph of hype over reality.
Comment: I went here with a few friends for my cousin's stag night and I can't say I enjoyed the experience at all. First off, we signed our disclaimers, donned our overalls and made our way to the debriefing room, where we were shown how to operate these *electric* karts. "Uh oh," we thought, "Milk float". Accoring to the man there, our prejudices were unfounded, as we were assured that these karts were "10-12 horsepower", with "four times as much torque as a petrol kart". Unfortunately, this is true only in the debriefer's fevered imagination; I've driven petrol karts before and I can tell you now that these karts were no faster and I'd say they had about the same amount of torque, possibly less; none of us reached 40mph. Although that wasn't the main problem- I was driving a kart that had probably been involved in a crash previously, as I could hear the bumper scraping along the floor as I drove, accompanied by something making a loud rattling noise (the battery?) in the box next to me; driving a kart that felt like it was going to shake itself apart isn't my idea of fun. The track comes equipped with a cornucopia of fancy electronic gadgetry, including lap timing, although that didn't stop whoever was entering the driver information spelling my name incorrecly: "Mr Hill", I became knows as for the next hour-and-a-half (despite telling the debriefer earlier, nothing was done about this. Were they too busy to do anything, or did they simply not care?). I expected more for my £50 than this, although I was pleased when they finally gave me a printout of my performance after I'd finished (complete with "Mr Hill" printed near the top)- it'll serve as a useful reminder not to come here again.
