Description
One of Britain's foremost bird sanctuaries.
Blakeney Point is a shingle spit on the north Norfolk coastline, near Blakeney. Blakeney Point was formed by the process of Long shore drift.
It is managed by the National Trust as part of its Blakeney National Nature Reserve and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area contains seal breeding grounds and bird nesting grounds which is why some areas of the spit are fenced off to prevent humans from disturbing the wildlife. Visitors are also restricted from visiting the spit during breeding periods. At the end of the spit is a visitor information centre.
