The Thelma Hulbert Gallery is the only free admission public art gallery in East Devon. The former home and studio of the late Thelma Hulbert, THG hosts changing exhibitions of contemporary art by national, international and local artists, together with a permanent selection of works by Ms Hulbert. Lundy Island

Lundy lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America, a granite outcrop, three and a half miles long and half a mile wide. In the hubbub of the modern world it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoilt.
People return time and again to the simple pleasures that Lundy affords; the sea is clear, the landscape spectacular and at night, without competition from street lights, it is truly dark and the stars... [more]

Tiverton Castle

Originally built in 1106 by order of Henry I, and later rebuilt and much enlarged in the 13th and 14th centuries, it was once home of the powerful medieval Earls of Devon and of a Plantagenet Princess. With later additions and alterations down the centuries all periods of architecture from medieval to modern can be seen, with beautiful walled gardens within the romantic ruins.

Marwood Hill Gardens

There is a brand new plant sales area in the Walled Garden. The Camellias in the Camellia House are at their peak just now, as are the Magnolias (especially 'Marwood Spring')! And to cap it off there is now a tea-room with a glorious view, open for morning coffee/tea, light lunches and afternoon tea. With cream! Visits to Marwood are memorable. [more]

Totnes Castle

A classic Norman motte and bailey castle, founded soon after the Conquest to overawe the Saxon town. A well-preserved later shell-keep crowns its steep mound, giving sweeping views across the town rooftops to the River Dart.

Dartmouth Castle is one of a pair of forts, the other being Kingswear Castle, that guard the mouth of the Dart Estuary in Devon, England.
The castle comprises two towers — one round and one square — and sections of wall, the whole of which is built upon a rocky promotory, very close to the water's edge. A church, St Petroc's, is immediately adjacent to the structure.

The Royal Citadel of Plymouth was built in the late 1660s, overlooking the Plymouth Sound, on the site of the earlier Plymouth Fort that had been built in the time of Sir Francis Drake. King Charles II decided it was necessary after the Dutch Wars of 1664-67 to realise the importance of Plymouth as a channel port. Possibly due to Plymouth's support for the Parliamentarians in the Civil War the guns could also fire on the town... [more]

The castle has Norman origins and dates from the late 11th century. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book (completed in 1086) which states that at that time it was in the possession of Baldwin de Brionne, the Sheriff of Devon.
Much of the surviving masonry, including the bulk of the Keep and the curtain walls, is of fourteenth century construction.
