Framlingham Castle

Framlingham is a magnificent example of a late 12th-century castle. Built by Roger Bigod, Earl of Norfolk, the castle, together with Framlingham Mere, was designed both as a stronghold and as a symbol of power and status – as befitted one of the most influential people at the court of Henry II. Saxtead Green Post Mill

This corn mill, whose whole body revolves on its base, was one of many built in Suffolk from the late 13th century. Though milling ceased in 1947, it is still in working order. Climb the wooden stairs to the various floors, which are full of fascinating mill machinery. [more]

Landguard Fort

The site of the last opposed invasion of England in 1667 and the first land battle of the Royal Marines. The current fort was built in the 18th century, and modified in the 19th century with substantial additional 19th/20th century outside batteries.
The nearby submarine mining building houses Felixstowe museum's collections of local interest.

The pool is conveniently located next to the town's free car park. All lifeguards are RLSS qualified and swimming teachers are ASA or STA qualified.

*Drink and snacks vending

The Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds was opened by its proprietor and architect William Wilkins (1778–1839) on the 11 October 1819, and was one of the most elegant, sophisticated and up-to-date playhouses of its age. The fact that it has survived, without significant alteration, into our time is a miracle and it is now one of only three buildings to give the experience of theatre-going in pre-Victorian Britain.
