The house contains internationally renowned collections: one of French eighteenth-century furniture and Sèvres porcelain inherited from my Rothschild grandmother and another of Napoleonic portraits and memorabilia collected by my grandfather, the 5th Earl of Rosebery as well as paintings of the highest quality from the 16th to the 19th centuries. My wife and I live in the smaller rooms upstairs and open the main rooms of the house to the public for guided tours part of the year. [more]

Welcome to the Scottish Mining Museum which, since its establishment in 1984, has provided a great day out for all the family. The Scottish Mining Museum is a nationally registered independent museum which was founded to preserve and present Scotland's mining heritage.

One of the most historic houses in Scotland provides the setting to this glorious testing par 70 golf course designed by the very famous Swiss golf course architect John Chilver-Stainer, responsible for the many exiting golf courses constructed over the last 15 years in Switzerland. Each hole presents different challenges and although most good golfers find it difficult to hold their par, the layout makes it rewarding. [more]

Visit the Canal Centre on the Edinburgh & Glasgow Union Canal in Linlithgow (18 miles from Edinburgh), birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Look as well at the Royal Palace and the 16th century St Michaels Church or take a walk round Linlithgow Loch with its abundant wildlife
